Burning Man debuts documentary, ‘Art on Fire’

Jon | August 25, 2020

This weekend, the Burning Man Project and ro*co films are premiering a new documentary, Burning Man: Art on Fire, a 90-minute film telling the story of artists as they prepare and bring their installations to the 2018 event.

The annual Burning Man event in Nevada, which becomes an 80,000-person pop-up celebration known as Black Rock City, has become a mecca for large-scale artists to present their greatest creations.

Each year, more than 400 artists work with volunteers to create “fantastical enormous art installations while braving searing heat and fierce dust storms in one of the planet’s most hostile natural environments,” the Burning Man Project wrote in a recent press release.

Art on Fire is a documentary about the intrinsic link between the arts and the flagship Nevada festival, described as “a character-driven film about Burning Man artists, Temple builders & Man-base makers. Struggles & triumphs as they fight to build before the Burn”. From today, Burning Man: Art on Fire is available on TV on demand platforms, including Vimeo, Virgin Media, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and Google Play.
